Dr.
Athanassiou is a Senior Consulting Associate of Global Resources
where he has designed and taught executive and staff level courses
in a range of global business planning subjects. In addition,
Professor Athanassiou consults with a number of companies on international
business strategy, marketing, and expatriation/repatriation issues.
In
addition to his work with Global Resources, Dr. Athanassiou has
been a member of the Northeastern University College of Business
Administration faculty since 1995 upon completion of a Ph.D. in
International Business and Strategic Management from the University
of South Carolina. He teaches courses in business strategy, global
management, and international marketing. From 1974 to 1990, he
held a number of senior executive positions in strategic management,
business development and general management in Japan, Europe,
the Middle East, and the United States with Pepsico, Kentucky
Fried Chicken International, and Heublein, Inc. Professor Athanassiou
also served as a visiting professor at the University of South
Carolina and as a lecturer at the University of Marylands
International Business Management Institute in Tokyo. A member
of the Academy of International Business, the Academy of Management,
the Strategic Management Society, and The Institute of Management
Sciences, he has research interests in international business
strategy, with a focus on the international business capabilities
of top management teams. In addition to his Ph.D., Professor Athanassiou
holds a BS degree from the Naval Academy of Greece, an MSEE from
Georgia Institute of Technology and an MBA from University of
Michigan. He is fluent in Greek and has some knowledge of French
and Portuguese.
