Day Two: Business Strategy and Planning

    In this module, the manager develops the skills to set the firm's strategic focus, build a business strategy, and develop and implement a business plan. Porter's business planning and competitive analysis models, as well as other tools, help managers plan, develop strategies, conduct risk assessment, and evaluate opportunity cost. They learn how to link strategy to operational objectives, to implementation, and to results analysis. Managers will develop methods for avoiding the common traps and pitfalls that condemn many business strategies and plans to a permanent place in the desk drawer. Case studies and in-class experiential exercises reinforce the session's objectives.
