Heidi
Vernon is a Senior Consulting Associate of Global Resources and
has designed, managed, and taught executive and staff level courses
in a range of global business planning subjects for a variety
of international clients.
In
addition to her work with Global Resources, Dr. Vernon is a Professor
of Management and Director of International Alliances at Northeastern
University. As a specialist in the strategic and cultural aspects
of international business, she also serves as Senior Professor
at Prasetiya Mulya Graduate School of Management in Indonesia
and has taught in the Global Senior Managers Program at the Fletcher
School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. She has consulted
to the World Bank, the United Nations Development Program and
the Harvard Institute for International Development in addition
to her many years spent traveling, consulting and teaching in
other parts of Asia.
Dr.
Vernon has presented papers at numerous conferences around the
world and has done research on the role of women in international
business, the role of culture in business, and in related issues
of international management. She specializes in analyzing challenges
that industrializing country firms encounter as they try to develop
export capabilities. Dr. Vernon is the author of three books:
Strategic Management in the Global Economy, Business & Society:
A Managerial Approach and Lowell: The Corporations and the City.
She is on editorial and review boards of professional journals
and is also the author of numerous articles and papers.
Dr.
Vernon received her B.A. from Rutgers University and her M.A.
and Ph.D. from Boston University. She is a member of the Academy
of Management and Academy of International Business and has held
many offices in both organizations, and is a Fellow of the Eastern
Academy of Management. Dr. Vernon is also a graduate of Cordon
Bleu in Paris and prior to her academic career, owned and managed
her own gourmet cooking school.
