Some
possible suggestions are:
- Managing
in the New Millennium: Develop a Globalization model/plan for
your firm/unit.
- Ethics:
Develop a mission statement or code of ethics.
- Business
Strategy and Planning: Develop a plan for a new organizational
goal or new product. Apply business planning models to your company
or organization.
- Marketing:
Possible topics might include new product introduction, the marketing
decision process, indicators of marketing potential, factors influencing
buyer decisions, and diffusion of innovation where the product
meets the market. Be sure to utilize the marketing models.
- Finance:
Apply financial ratios to your Strategic Business Unit/firm. Show
your analysis and determine the qualitative issues generated by
your quantitative analysis.
- Technology
and Information: Assess your Strategic Business Unit/firm in terms
of the Third Wave Economy. What changes would you implement and
why? Assess the value of information technology in terms of its
specific contribution to creating strategic competitive advantage
in your firm. Apply the six factors in the IT model to an analysis
of how your firm is creating a knowledge base.
- Organizational
Behavior and Managerial Effectiveness: Possible topics include
your organization's changing requirements for managers, as understood
through the Organizational Model, analyses for improving your
Strategic Business Unit's managerial effectiveness by applying
concepts from Keirsey profile differences, determinants of managerial
influence, problem-solving or communication.
If
you prefer, you may develop a project different from the ideas presented
above, provided that it addresses the three main elements stated
previously. If you choose to develop your own project, be sure to
discuss it with your Northeastern University/MBA PowerPak
Certification
Project Advisor prior to beginning your work.
The
Certification Project Advisor will be a MBA PowerPak
Program Instructor as well as a resident professor at Northeastern
University's College of Business Administration. The Certification
Project Advisor will serve as your point-of-contact throughout the
research and preparation of your research project.
Once
your Northeastern University/MBA PowerPak
Certification Project Advisor has been determined, you will have
four weeks to research, prepare, and submit a draft copy of your
paper. Your paper must be 20 - 25 pages in length and utilize standard
research paper formats (e.g. footnotes, references, charts/tables
as needed, etc.). During your four week research period, we encourage
you to communicate with your Advisor and to utilize your Advisor
as a project resource. Once the draft research paper has been submitted
to your Advisor and you receive comments, you will be provided a
date, location, and/or time to attend a Northeastern University/MBA
PowerPak
Certification Session to present your findings. Your final Northeastern
University/MBA PowerPak
Certification Project paper is due at the time of your presentation.
Your Certification Advisor will then provide comments on both your
presentation and the related paper within two weeks of your presentation.
You
may obtain further information regarding Northeastern University/MBA
PowerPak
Certification during the MBA PowerPak
session you attend.
